01.07.2007 - Initial investment by Next Wave Ventures into ITI Energy

Next Wave said the investment will be used to support the business as it grows and develops its pipeline of projects that will use ITI's patented gasification technology.

Jonathan Brod of Next Wave said ITI Energy is a groundbreaking cleantech company which targets two of the world's major environmental concerns 1) Generation of clean energy and 2) Strategies to manage landfill waste.

ITI's patented gasification technology combined with the most up-to-date clean-up systems available means it is able to convert municipal waste into energy more efficiently than any technology currently known. ITI has a substantial pipeline of projects at different stages of the development process with huge potential for global expansion.

The company's strategy is to provide a turnkey solution encompassing its gasification technology, feedstock handling and ultimately electricity generation equipment. In addition to providing the initial turnkey solution, ITI will also continue to own and operate its power plants along alongside its development partners.

01.12.2006 - ITI Energy Limited move to new premises

ITI has recently relocated its headquarters to the new Advanced Manufacturing Park, Technology Centre at Catcliffe Rotherham with the help of a grant of up to £500,000 from Yorkshire First. This grant has been made available via the European Commission's Structural Funds Scheme, the ERDF Objective 1 programme.

01.11.2006 - ITI Energy Limited closes £6 million fundraising with Adurion Capital.

ITI Energy Limited, a leading advanced thermal processes and waste-to-energy developer, is pleased to announce it has closed a fundraising of £6 million with the sole backing of venture capitalist Adurion Capital's Global Opportunities Fund. The fundraising commits Adurion to provide £1 million of working capital immediately, with a further £5 million to be released over the course of the build program for the first 10 megawatts of gasification projects.

Commenting on the fundraising, Miles Lewis, one of ITI's Directors, said:

This financing gives us a solid basis for the evolution of our company from a leading technology developer, to an important owner operator of renewable energy generation facilities. To date our most important milestone was winning the competitive tender to supply Caithness Local Authority with gasification technology for the Caithness Heat and Power project in the town of Wick. We expect our first production unit to be commissioned there at the beginning of next year and are currently completing planning and permitting for a number of other substantial Build Own Operate and Joint Venture projects. Our pipeline is growing very rapidly and we anticipate that Wick going operational will trigger a flood of demand both domestically and internationally.

ITI's Managing Director, Tony Fordham said: Adurion's commitment validates our belief that this is the right product at the right time. ITI's technology can provide energy users with a reliable source of renewable energy at a predictable price over a long-term contract. Furthermore, as it can process difficult feedstocks of relatively low calorific values, it can operate on refuse derived fuel made from residual municipal solid waste even after all the recyclable materials have been removed. By effectively eliminating this mainly organic fraction, we expect to make a major contribution to the local authorities' targets to divert methane producing materials away from landfill.

Patrick Teroerde, Director of Adurion Capital said: We are thrilled to partner with ITI Energy, in our view the leader in gasification technology. The Company is poised to revolutionize the environmentally friendly disposal of municipal waste and other refuse. With our investment and active participation, we aim to accelerate ITI Energy's development within this fast growing sector both in the UK and other major European markets.

ITI was advised by Strand Partners Limited, a specialised corporate finance and advisory firm with substantial experience in public and private transactions in the renewable sector.

01.05.2006 - ITI Energy Limited awarded contract for CHPL

ITI Energy Limited announces it has been awarded a contract for the supply of their patented Gasifiers to Caithness Heat and Power Limited (CHPL), a special purpose vehicle set up by Caithness Local Authority. CHPL will exploit technology for the conversion of Biomass into Heat and Power as part of an overall Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system to be used in Wick, Scotland. The Caithness project is to install a CHP system for both heating part of the town of Wick as well as generating electricity. CHPL chose ITI Energy Limited after putting the contract out to tender in the course of which they received a number of alternative proposals.

CHP is the process where heat and power are generated close to the point of use. Being able to utilise the heat and power from local generation is highly efficient and provides low cost energy, while minimising transmission losses. When fuelled from biomass (Woodchip) the energy is also carbon neutral.

Wick has a range of housing and buildings which are currently heated by a variety of fuels, ranging from coal to heavy fuel oil. The CHP scheme will upgrade the internals to the housing and provide affordable warmth to these housing tenants and Council buildings. In addition the Pulteney Distillery requires significant heat and has process waste heat which can be made available to a district heating network. A core part of this project will be the ITI Energy Limited Gasifiers.
